Together, we can be the change we want to see 🖤

At Cowlitz Community Behavioral Health Center, we believe that health is not just the absence of disease, but a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. We strive to promote holistic health and wellness through our services and patient education programs.

My name is Shawna DeSpain. I am the CEO & Founder of Cowlitz Community Behavioral Health Center.
CCBHC was founded from a simple belief: everyone deserves access to compassionate, high-quality behavioral healthcare and the opportunity to build a better future. Throughout my work in behavioral health, I've seen how mental health and trauma can affect nearly every aspect of a person's life. While therapy and medication can be life-changing, healing doesn't happen if someone continues to face the same barriers every day. Sometimes healing starts with therapy. Other times, it starts with someone believing in you enough to offer a hand up. That belief is the foundation of CCBHC. My vision has always been to build more than a behavioral health clinic. I want CCBHC to be a place where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to move forward. By partnering with local organizations and addressing the barriers that often stand in the way of recovery, we strive to create lasting, meaningful change for individuals, families, and our community. I founded CCBHC because I believe everyone deserves someone who believes in them. I want to be the change I hope to see in our community. Every decision we make is guided by compassion, integrity, and the belief that when we invest in people, we strengthen our entire community.

My name is Patti Goodwin and I am a mental health therapist with experience supporting individuals through trauma, mental health challenges, substance use, and difficult life transitions. I believe in meeting people where they are and creating a space where they feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported. My approach is compassionate, person-centered, and focused on the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I believe everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and hopeful about what comes next.

My name is Shannon Nicholles and I am a mental health therapist who is passionate about helping people feel supported, understood, and empowered in their lives. I have experience working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including those navigating anxiety, trauma, domestic violence, chronic health conditions, and major life challenges. My approach is compassionate, holistic, and centered around building a genuine, trusting relationship with each person I work with. I believe therapy should be a place where you can be yourself, feel heard without judgment, and build the tools and confidence to heal, grow, and move forward.
